Sailing holiday with children

There’s a little sailor in children of all ages! We bet your kids won’t be able to resist hoisting the sails of a ship or learning how to tie real sailor’s knots.

Our family trip is packed with adventures on the water, in the sand, and on the Wadden Islands. From flying kites on the beach to catching crabs, from mudflat hiking to swimming, there’s something for everyone. This arrangement is designed especially for families with children and teenagers. Grandparents, uncles, and aunts are, of course, also more than welcome!

The program of sailing with the children

Landlubber, please note: a ship sails where the wind takes her. The program below is only an example. The exact program will be determined on board according to the tide.

No sailing experience required! The children decide how adventurous the sailing will be: nice and calm or a bit more exciting.

For five days, we’ll wander across the Wadden Sea, where there’s always something to discover! On the first day, we welcome you all on board, and the ship sets sail. As soon as we leave the harbour of Harlingen, the sails are hoisted. Who’s ready to help?

The skipper sets course for the Wadden Sea, and you can enjoy the view, play games, help with sailing, or relax on deck. The crew is happy to teach you all kinds of sailor’s knots – will the parents join in, or just watch? When docked in the harbour, you’re free to explore: head to the beach, go shopping, cycle around, or catch crabs between the boats. Meanwhile, the cook will be busy preparing meals and will spoil you with delicious treats for the rest of the trip. In the evening, everyone can retreat to their cabins, fully satisfied.

If the tides allow, we might even strand the ship on a sandbank in the middle of the sea. Watch from the ship as the seabed gets closer and closer! Who will be brave enough to take the first step into the water? The seabed is full of small creatures and shells – what an adventure!

As you can see, children won’t have a dull moment during a sailing trip. While they’re entertained, you can relax and soak up the sunshine.

The care

During this trip, you will enjoy full board. All meals and snacks will be provided for you by the cook. Any dietary requirements will of course be taken into account. To enable him/her to conjure great dishes from the galley, he/she will occasionally need your help with the preparation and washing up. Water, tea, coffee and milk are included. Soft drinks, lemonade, beer and wine can be bought by the glass at reasonable prices.

You will stay in a cabin with a bunk bed, mirror and washbasin. The bed is already made for you and towels are provided. Your family will be assigned one or two cabins, no sharing with other parties neccesary. You will share showers and toilets with all guests. The common room has ample seating, books and games. On some ships, you will find a sound system and/or musical instrument.
