Goodbye 2025, hello 2026!
Celebrate New Year’s Eve on the vibrant island of Terschelling after a refreshing sailing trip across the Wadden Sea.
Our ever-popular New Year’s Eve trip will once again take place aboard the two-masted clipper Actief. The experienced crew of this ship will ensure a pleasant crossing and a memorable stay in the harbour of West-Terschelling.
Landlubber, please note: a ship sails where the wind takes her. The programme below is just an example. The exact programme will only be determined on board according to the tide.
You will embark on the evening evening of December 29th, aboard the Actief in the picturesque harbour town of Harlingen. Over a welcome drink and delicious snacks, you’ll have the chance to meet the other guests and the crew. The captain will provide an introduction to the ship and the planned voyage for the coming days. The final route will be determined based on the latest weather forecast and tides. In the evening, you are welcome to explore the charming town of Harlingen.
The next morning, 30 December, after a hearty breakfast, the ship will depart from Harlingen. The crew will gladly explain the basics of sailing – would you like to help? Hoisting and setting the sails is an engaging activity that everyone can take part in. Many hands make light work! The journey takes you through channels and past sandbanks towards Terschelling. Along the way, a generous lunch will be served. By mid-afternoon, the ship will dock in the harbour of West-Terschelling, giving you the opportunity to explore the island’s beautiful nature and picturesque villages at your own pace. By late afternoon, we’ll welcome you back on board with tasty snacks, followed by a delightful dinner in the evening.
On 31 December, the galley crew will once again provide delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, ensuring 2024 ends on a high note. Seeing out the old year and welcoming the new one is a unique experience in the harbour of West-Terschelling! At midnight, ship horns will sound, champagne corks will pop, and all of this under the ever-glowing light of the Brandaris lighthouse.
On 1 January, the ship will set sail back to the mainland by late morning, offering another beautiful sailing trip ahead. As the skyline of Harlingen comes into view, you’ll feel as though you’ve enjoyed a long, relaxing holiday and will be brimming with stories and experiences to share with family and friends.
During this trip, you will enjoy full board. All meals and snacks will be provided for you by the cook. Any dietary requirements will of course be taken into account. To enable him/her to conjure great dishes from the galley, he/she will occasionally need your help with the preparation and washing up. Water, tea, coffee and milk are included. Soft drinks, lemonade, beer and wine can be bought by the glass at reasonable prices.
You will stay in a cabin with a bunk bed, mirror and washbasin. The bed is already made for you and towels are provided. You can share a cabin with a fellow traveller of the same gender; you can also reserve a cabin for yourself at an additional cost. If you book with more than one person, we will of course assign you to them. You will share showers and toilets with all guests. The common room has ample seating, books and games. On some ships, you will find a sound system and/or musical instrument.
The port of departure and arrival for this voyage is Harlingen.
