The Wadden Sea is different every day. Discover it during this three-day sailing trip.
Board the ships of the Historische Zeilvaart Harlingen and prepare for 3 days of pure enjoyment. We will pamper you with delicious meals, while you enjoy the UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Wadden Sea. Not only will there be sailing, during the sailing trip a visit to one or more Wadden Islands is of course also on the programme, which you can explore on your own.
Landlubber, please note: a ship sails where the wind takes her. The programme below is just an example. The exact programme will only be determined on board according to the tide.
You will be expected in the beautiful port city of Harlingen at sunset. While enjoying a welcome drink and snacks, you will meet the other guests and the crew. The skipper will explain the ship, life on board and the sailing trip after which you can settle into your cabin.
The next morning, after a delicious breakfast, the ship leaves Harlingen harbour and we sail towards the Wadden Islands. The trip goes through channels, past sandbanks with resting seals, to the beautiful island of Vlieland. A delicious lunch is provided en route. After the day’s sailing, the ship moors in Vlieland harbour and you can visit the island with its beautiful dune landscapes, beaches and the idyllic village of Oost-Vlieland. Back on board, you will have drinks with delicious snacks, enjoy a nutritious dinner and then enjoy the evening.
The next morning, the ship leaves for West-Terschelling, you will sail through the sea channel between Vlieland and Terschelling, through the Vliestroom, along the Richel and the Grounds of Stortemelk. After this wonderful sailing trip, the ship moors in the harbour of West-Terschelling. You can walk straight from the ship into this cosy village, rent a bike or grab a terrace. The galley crew will take care of you and the day with delicious meals throughout the day.
On the last one, the ship departs towards the Wadden Sea during the morning for the last sail of this trip. Have you already experienced what it is like to hoist the sail? This is your last chance. When the skyline of Harlingen comes into view, you will have the feeling of a long, relaxing holiday behind you. A special trip, sailing to the rhythm of the tide, propelled by the wind, in the most beautiful nature reserve in Northern Europe: the Unesco World Heritage Wadden Sea.
During this trip, you will enjoy full board. All meals and snacks will be provided for you by the cook. Any dietary requirements will of course be taken into account. To enable him/her to conjure great dishes from the galley, he/she will occasionally need your help with the preparation and washing up. Water, tea, coffee and milk are included. Soft drinks, lemonade, beer and wine can be bought by the glass at reasonable prices.
You will stay in a cabin with a bunk bed, mirror and washbasin. The bed is already made for you and towels are provided. You can share a cabin with a fellow traveller of the same gender; you can also reserve a cabin for yourself at an additional cost. If you book with more than one person, we will of course assign you to them. You will share showers and toilets with all guests. The common room has ample seating, books and games.
