The Grootvorst in 1896, initially as a river clipper built up in the thirties she was a sailing cargo ship. In 1985 what happened to her many ships came: she was no longer profitable as a freighter. In the same year, the Grootovorst completely renovated into a luxury passenger sailing vessel. She had three masts with 520 m² of sail and now, in 2010, it is still a beautiful three masted sailing clipper.
Lots of space with deck, from the cockpit, access to the salon. In this cozy sheltered accommodation can sit with a nice view over the water. Downstairs is a comfortable day room and kitchen, fully equipped with catering stove, oven, hot box, dishwasher and beer pump. A large cold storage makes this "kitchen" to a professional kitchen. And if you want good barbecue, you can use a large gas barbecue.
In the winter of 2010-2011, the spacious sleeping and showers and toilets are completely demolished and then rebuilt. There are modern showers and toilets, and many two-person cabins with nice beds. On the website of the Grootvorst next winter we will keep you informed of the progress of the renovation
A stay at the 40 meters long three masted clipper Grootvorst is a combination of sporty sailing a luxury accommodation. The owners, Ed and Agnes Kruiskamp Sonneveld, give you a warm welcome on board their ship.
