A group of charter skippers founded the Harlingen Historic Sailing Vessels Co-operative (SHZH) in 1985, with the joint aims of maintaining historic ships and keeping them sailing.
The SHZH ships are all former cargo ships. Thanks to there size and stability they are comfortable to sail, whilst their speed equals that of many modern sailing yachts.
